The Dove & Creation
Genesis 1:1-2 & Matthew 3:16

In Genesis, it says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, and God's Spirit hovered over the water."

God's Spirit is represented as a dove, which also hovers at the baptism of Jesus — Matthew tells us, "As soon as Jesus was baptized, He came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him."

I thought a reference in my research Bible was very interesting: "The Spirit which hovered over the waters at the first creation now appears at the beginning of the new creation [in Jesus]."

I had never connected the two events before reading the reference. It's food for thought.
