Ask
Without Doubt
James 1:5-8
In
James, he tells us, "If there is any one of you who needs wisdom, he must
ask God, who gives to all freely and ungrudgingly; it will be given to him. But
he must ask with faith, and no trace of doubt, because a person who has doubts
is like the waves thrown up in the sea when the wind drives. That sort of
person, in two minds, wavering between going different ways, must not expect
that the Lord will give him anything."
How many times have you prayed for
help or a need only to have the answer be "No"? You even may have felt as if
your prayer had been ignored.
Next time, before you pray, you
must decide if you are truly going to believe that God loves you enough to
answer your request in a positive manner or not. Then, leave it in His hands to
do what is best for everyone concerned. (What we believe is the best outcome
isn't always so.)
If you ask with a believing heart
only to begin doubting soon after, you have already told the Lord, "Never mind.
I changed my mind", at least according to this Scripture verse. It's like Peter
in Matthew 14:30 walking on water toward Jesus, until he began to doubt. What
happened then? He sank in the water.
It's something to think about. I
guarantee you that it's true. I've seen a drastic change in my life, since I put
aside all doubts in Christ. Remember, God is FOR YOU!
